PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's basketball team will return home to face ACC foe Boston College Thursday evening at the Petersen Events Center.

Graduate center Khadija Faye is now just 28 points away from reaching the 1,000-point mark for her career. Faye has been one of the best bigs in the ACC this season, averaging 17.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. Of note, her 2.7 blocks per game ranks second in the ACC and seventh nationally.
Washenitz Records Career-High
Junior guard Marley Washenitz tied her career-high with 20 points against Cal, including 12 in the fourth quarter. Washenitz has wreaked havoc on the defensive end for opposing guards all season, averaging 2.1 steals per game.

The Panthers have consistently gotten to the charity stripe, ranking fourth in the ACC with 400 free throw attempts this season. Faye has been the catalyst in that regard individually, ranking second in the ACC in free throw attempts (154).

Pitt fell to No. 19 Cal, 84-53, Sunday evening at Haas Pavilion in Berkeley, Calif.
Cal opened the scoring with a layup, but MaKayla Elmore immediately responded with a triple from the left wing seconds later. The two teams traded field goals for the ensuing five minutes of action as Pitt led, 8-7, at the under-five media timeout. The Golden Bears closed the opening frame on an 11-3 run and held an 18-11 advantage after 10 minutes of play.
After a Cal layup opened the second period, Pitt went on a 5-1 spurt to pull within five at the 7:18 mark. The Golden Bears then went on a 15-2 burst over the ensuing three minutes, taking an 18-point lead. Pitt was unable to cut into the deficit and trailed 46-20 at halftime.
Cal remained on the attack, outscoring Pitt (18-9) in the third period. Led by Washenitz, who logged 12 points in the fourth quarter alone, the Panthers continued to push down the stretch before ultimately falling, 84-53.
