Pitt Resumes Action Friday, March 2 at Miami
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Pittsburgh tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Notre Dame Saturday afternoon at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
With the loss, the Panthers move to 5-3 on the year and 0-2 against ACC foes, while the Irish improve to 5-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
"We have to do a better job executing the plan consistently, especially in the key points," head coach Alex Santos said. "In doubles, we let the point slip by. In singles, Notre Dame was better than us and we have to work harder to become more resilient."
Pitt fell behind early on after dropping the doubles point. The Panther tandem of junior Luisa Varon and freshman Claudia Bartolome turned in the first doubles win of the day, coming from the No. 1 spot as they took down Brooke Broda and Allison Miller, 6-3. However, Notre Dame notched wins on courts two and three to clinch the doubles point.
Moving to singles, junior Natsumi Okamoto fell to Ally Bojczuk at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-1, to give the Irish a 2-0 lead.
