Panthers Face First Road Test at Notre Dame

Pitt Resumes ACC Play Saturday, Feb. 24 at Notre Dame
PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh tennis team faces its first road test of the season Saturday, Feb. 24 at Notre Dame.
The Panthers (5-2, 0-1 ACC) and Fighting Irish (4-2, 0-1 ACC) are set to clash at 10 a.m. at the Eck Tennis Pavilion in South Bend, Ind.
THE SERIES
- Saturday marks the sixth matchup between the Panthers and the Fighting Irish, with Notre Dame leading the series, 5-0.
- Pitt looks for revenge after falling to Notre Dame, 4-0, last season in the ACC tournament.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Panthers earned a decisive victory last weekend over the Nittany Lions, 5-2.
- Pitt clinched the doubles point against Penn State with wins on court two from senior Callie Frey and freshman Camila Moreno, quickly followed by a win on court three from juniors Natsumi Okamoto and Gabriela Rezende.
- The Panthers then tallied four singles wins to secure the victory over the Nittany Lions thanks to wins from Frey, Okamoto, junior Luisa Varon and freshman Claudia Bartolome.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING IRISH
- Coming into its matchup with Pitt, Notre Dame owns an overall record of 4-2, 0-1 in the ACC after taking down Wright State 7-0 and Indiana 4-3, Sunday, Feb. 18.
- The Fighting Irish are led by senior Brooke Boda who is 2-2 in singles at the No. 1 spot and 3-3 in doubles at the No. 1 spot.
- Last season, Notre Dame finished 18-10 overall with a 7-7 record in the ACC, falling to Ohio State 4-0 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
A LOOK AT THE PANTHERS
- The Panthers are led this season by senior veteran Callie Frey from Pittsburgh, Pa., who is undefeated in duals singles with a record of 7-0.
- Pitt's success this season also comes from junior Natsumi Okamoto, who is 6-1 in singles, and freshman Claudia Bartolome, who is also undefeated with a record of 6-0.
- The Panthers' doubles team of Frey and Moreno have an impressive record of 5-1 in doubles this season at the No. 2 and 3 spot.

- Pitt will remain on the road as the team heads to Florida to take on the Miami Hurricanes Friday, March 2 at 10 a.m.
- The Panthers close out the weekend in Tallahassee as they take on Florida State Sunday, March 4 at 11 a.m.
