PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh tennis team (2-0) continues its regular season with two home duals this weekend, facing Bowling Green (3-0) Friday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m., before hosting VCU (2-2) Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. at Oxford Athletic Club.
THE SERIES
- Friday marks the third matchup with Bowling Green in program history as the Falcons have won the previous two meetings.
- Saturday afternoon will be the first clash between VCU and the Panthers.
LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt swept a doubleheader to open their season with wins over Youngstown State and Akron Saturday, Jan. 20 at Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pa.
- The Panthers won each by a tally of 6-1, recording 14 total wins between the two duals.
-Freshmen Claudia Bartolome and Camila Moreno, as well as junior transfer Luisa Varon, accounted for five of the victories on the day.

- Bowling Green enters the weekend 3-0 on the season.
- Their latest dual was a 6-1 victory over Youngstown State Saturday, Jan. 27.
- For the Falcons, juniors Paula Comella and Polina Radeva are undefeated in singles play so far this season.

- VCU started the 2018 season with a dual record of 2-2.
- The Rams were defeated by Old Dominion, 4-0, in their latest dual on Tuesday, Jan. 30.
- VCU is led by junior Anna Rasmussen, a member of the 2017 Atlantic 10 First Team who finished last season with a record of 20-7 in singles play.
A LOOK AT THE PANTHERS
- Pitt returns a solid group from a year ago including senior Callie Frey, juniors Clara Lucas, Natsumi Okamoto and Gabriela Rezende, as well as sophomore Jovana Knezevic.
- Three Panthers are hitting the courts for the first time this season in freshmen Claudia Bartolome a native of Torredembarra, Spain, and Camila Moreno, a native of Rosario, Argentina. Junior transfer Luisa Varon, comes to Pittsburgh from Eastern Florida State College and is a native of Valencia, Venezuela.

- The Panthers will face eight non-conference opponents this season, including rival Penn State.
- Pitt will meet with four teams currently ranked in the Oracle/ITA preseason national rankings, all of which are ACC opponents, including No. 5 North Carolina, No. 7 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Duke, and No. 19 Miami. The Panthers will hit the road for seven duals throughout the season.
