Panthers to Race at Penn State National Open

Pitt to Compete at NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Site
PITTSBURGH – The Pitt men's and women's cross country teams will race in University Park, Pa., for the second of three times this season at the Penn State National Open at the Blue/White Golf Courses Friday morning.
The women's 6K race will begin at 10:45 a.m., with the men's 5.2 miles to begin at 11:30 a.m. A recap of the days races will be posted to PittsburghPanthers.com.

- Set to compete for the women are freshmen Devon Hoernlein and Caelan Miller, sophomores Ally Brunton, Emily Burd, and Mikaela Vlasic, juniors Sarah Frick and Sam Shields and seniors Natalie Hilton, Erin Keelan, Miranda Salvo, Gillian Schriever and Makenzie Zeh.
- Competing for the men are freshmen Evan Addison, Tyler Rollins, Brain Spolarich and Dan Uhranowsky, sophomores Josh Higgins and Zach Lefever and juniors Jackson Morton and Nick Wolk.

- Teams competing alongside Pitt on the women's side are Akron, Boston College, Brown, Bucknell, Cornell, RV Dartmouth, Duquesne, Eastern Kentucky, RV Georgetown, No. 26 Georgia Tech, Iona, James Madison, Kentucky, Lehigh, Loyola, No. 14 Michigan State, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio University, Penn, No. 19 Penn State, No. 29 Princeton, Rutgers, No. 27 Utah, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.
- Men's teams participating will be from Akron, No. 16 Arkansas, Brown, Bucknell, Charleston Southern, Dartmouth, Duquesne, No. 18 Eastern Kentucky, No. 29 Georgetown, Georgia Tech, No. 27 Iona, Kentucky, RV Michigan State, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio University, Penn, Penn State, Rutgers, No. 19 Virginia, and No. 30 Virginia Tech.
LAST TIME OUT
- At the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown in Boston, Mass. (Sept. 21), the men's squad took eleventh with 373 points, and the women placed sixteenth with 413 points.
- Freshman Sam Shields placed first for the Panthers and 15th overall in the women's 5K race of more than 216 participants with a time of 17:40, followed by senior Natalie Hilton (18:21) in 74th overall. Sophomore Mikaela Vlasic (18:48) finished third for the Panthers in 101st place.
- In his 2018 debut, junior Nick Wolk placed first for Pitt and 23rd overall with a time of 24:38. Sophomore Zach Lefever (25:18) and freshman Evan Addison (25:42) also placed within the top 100 for the Panthers, finishing 52nd and 87th, respectively.

- The Pitt men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the ACC Cross Country Championships in Boston, Mass. on Friday, Oct. 26.
