COLUMBIA, Mo. – Sophomore Thomas McMahon finished 93rd at the NCAA Cross Country Championships Saturday afternoon. McMahon ran a personal best time of 29:33.0 in the 10K at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course.
McMahon posted Pitt men's cross country's highest individual finish since Keith Dowling came in 12th at the national championship meet in 1990. The Columbus, Ohio, native caps off a season in which he was the Panthers' top finisher in all six meets, with three top 10 overall finishes. He began the 2025 season with a first-place finish at the Panthers Opener on Aug. 29, completing the 3.11-mile home course in 14:45.2. The following weekend, McMahon finished 7th at the Spiked Shoe Invitational, running 5.2-miles in 25:06.1. A weekend ago, McMahon raced to 8th place at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship, with a then-personal best 29:43.8 in the 10K to solidify his place in today's meet.
