PITTSBURGH – The Pitt tennis team opens the fall season this weekend at the Miami Fall Invite in Coral Gables, Fla. Action is set to take place Friday, Sept. 22 – Sunday, Sept. 24 at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
Along with Miami, the Panthers will also clash with Auburn and Florida Gulf Coast.
Friday action gets underway at 9 a.m. with Pitt taking on Miami in doubles, followed by singles versus Auburn starting singles not before 10 a.m.
The Panthers will then take on Auburn in doubles Saturday morning, followed by FGCU in singles at the conclusion of doubles.
Pitt wraps up the weekend with Sunday doubles versus FGCU and will conclude with taking on Miami in singles.
Head coach Alex Santos enters his fifth year at the helm of the tennis program and returns five veteran players from 2016-17 including leaders in senior Callie Frey and junior Gabriela Rezende. The Panthers roster also welcomes new faces in junior transfer Luisa Varon and freshmen Claudia Bartolome and Camila Moreno.
