PITTSBURGH — The Pitt women's soccer team (5-7-2, 1-5-0 ACC) returns home to host NC State (4-6-4, 3-1-2 ACC) on Friday, Oct. 17, at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Opening Kick
- Pitt looks to snap a three-game losing streak and secure its first ACC win at home when it faces the Wolfpack.
- The Panthers are back in action after a week off, most recently falling to Duke and North Carolina on the road. Sophomore forward Lucia Wells netted Pitt's lone goal of the weekend in Chapel Hill.
- Friday marks the 11th all-time meeting between the programs, with the series tied at five wins apiece. In their most recent matchup in 2023, Pitt earned a 2-0 victory.
- Freshman forward Katie Ellermeyer leads the team with six goals, including the game-winner against Boston College—Pitt's first ACC victory of the season. She ranks fourth in the conference in game-winning goals.
- The Panthers have seen seven different players score this season: Ellermeyer (6), Margaret Wilde (3), Lola Abraham (2), Magali Gagne, Lucia Wells, Sofia Doheny and Hannah Minogue. Minogue notched her first career goal in the nonconference finale against Bucknell. Wells tallied her first goal of the season last weekend against UNC.
- Senior Margaret Wilde has been a key presence in the attack, earning eight starts in 14 appearances and ranking second on the team in goals (3). She contributed a goal and an assist in the win over BC and leads the team in shot accuracy with a .500 rate on target.
- Defensively, Olivia Lee has anchored the Pitt backline. The junior leads the team in minutes played, logging 1,260 minutes and appearing in every minute of the season so far.
Scouting the Wolfpack
- NC State enters Friday's match riding a five-game unbeaten streak in conference play, dating back to a 1-0 win at SMU on Sept. 18. It marks the program's longest ACC unbeaten stretch since winning six straight league games in 2017.
- Junior forward Jade Boreleau leads the Wolfpack with nine goals and one assist. She has scored in each of the last five matches, including a two-goal performance against Wake Forest.
