
Pitt Women’s Soccer Meets Louisville

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Panthers (8-1-0, 1-0-0 ACC) are set to meet the Louisville Cardinals in Louisville, KY at the Lynn Soccer Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 21 with an 8 PM first kick. This ACC matchup will be aired nationally on the ACC Network.

THE SERIES
- This is the 11th overall meeting between the Panthers and the Cardinals with Louisville holding the 7-3 edge.
- At the last matchup against Louisville, the Panthers posted a 1-0 win at home at Ambrose Urbanic Field.
- Pitt is looking to continue last season's momentum into Thursday night's game.
SCOUTING LOUISVILLE
- On Sunday night, the Cardinals posted their first ever point against Virginia after securing a 1-1 draw to the Cavaliers.
- Louisville's Lucy Roberts posted a leading goal in the 58th minute but was equalized by the Cavaliers in the 80th minute.
- The Cardinals' goalkeeper, Erynn Floyd kept the matchup at a draw after posting a total of four saves on the game.
RECAPPING SUNDAY'S ACC MATCHUP SHUTOUT
- The Panthers opened ACC play with a win on Sunday afternoon where they faced the NC State Wolfpack.
- Pitt completed Sunday's matchup with a 2-0 shutout against the Wolfpack.
- Both the Panthers and the Wolfpack posted strong plays in the first half, leaving the game scoreless up to the 44th minute.
- Ellie Breech put Pitt on the board first off of Anna Bout's corner kick, leaving just over 20 seconds left in the first half. Pitt went into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.
- Coming out for the second half, goalkeeper Ellie Breech posted a strong save in the 49th minute to keep the lead for the Panthers.
- Fifth year Amanda West posted her sixth goal on the season after creating an opening between two of the Wolfpack's defenders.
- Sarah Schupansky secured her fifth assist of the season after sending a quick touch to West to double the lead for Pitt.
- The Panthers dominated the match up in shots (23-7), shots on goal (10-4) and corner kicks (11-3) to complete today's shutout.
RANKINGS ALL AROUND
- Currently, Pitt is third in the nation for assists per game (3.44) and first overall in the ACC.
- They are second in the nation for corner kicks per game (9.11) and first in the ACC.
- The Panthers are ranked first in the ACC for points per game (9.67) and second in the ACC for shot accuracy (0.487).
- They are second in the nation for shots on goal per game (10.78) and shots per game (22.11) and first in the ACC for both.
