
Panthers Wrap Up 126th Penn Relays With Some Strong Performances

PHILADELPHIA, PA – After not competing in the Penn Relays for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Pitt track and field teams made their return to historic Franklin Field this weekend for the 126th running of the event. The Panthers were able to set one school record and notch two top-10 marks on the weekend.
Running the men's 4xMile for the first time this season, the quartet of Josh Higgins, Jack Miller, Evan Addison and Finn Walsh were able to set a school record in the event as they notched the 11th place finish with a program-best time of 16:42.25.
The Panthers 4x400m relay squad of Felix Wolter, Ade Jones-Roundtree, Cobe Wiggins and Lonzell Feagin qualified for the Championship of America final as they posted a time of 3:09.96 in the prelims on Friday afternoon. In the finals on Saturday, Wiggins, Jones-Roundtree, Nigel Hussey and Feagin ran a season-best time to collect the fourth place finish in 3:07.09. The time marked the sixth fastest in program history and the fourth fastest in the ACC so far this season in the event.
On the women's side, the 4x400m relay quartet of Kamryn McIntosh, Caleia Johnson, Breanna Phillips and Lydia Bottelier posted a season-best time of 3:43.60 to secure 13th place in the Championship of America flight. The 4x200m squad of Johnson, Elke van der Westhuizen, Bottelier and Folake Olujide-Ajibade secured sixth place overall with a time of 1:36.76.
The throws squad had a solid showing in Philadelphia as Abena Atuobi secured a sixth place finish in the shot put with a heave of 48'3.50" (14.72m). Senior Noah Walker posted a seventh place finish in the discus with a season-best throw of 182'8" (55.68m) while also finishing in eighth place in the hammer throw with a throw of 203'4" (61.99m).
Elsewhere on the track, Phillips was able to post a season-best time of 1:00.96 in the women's 400m hurdles Championship of America flight as she finished in 14th place overall. Addison and Walsh took home eighth and 10th places, respectively, in the 1500m run with times of 3:48.82 and 3:50.54.
Greg Lauray closed out the weekend for the Panthers with a season-best height of 7'0.25" (2.14m) in the high jump to earn sixth place while Kollin Smith and Felix Wolter finished in fifth and sixth places, respectively, in the long jump. Smith posted a distance of 23'8.75" (7.23m) while Wolter notched a distance of 23'7.25" (7.19m). Ilse Steigenga finished in seventh place in the long jump with a leap of 18'11.25" (5.77m).

- The Panthers will have a week off before heading down to Durham, NC for the 2022 ACC Outdoor Championships hosted by Duke. The three-day championship meet will run from May 12-14 at the Morris Williams Track and Field Stadium.
