UNIVERSITY PARK, PA – The Pitt cross country squads wrapped up their regular season schedule on Friday afternoon as they competed in the Penn State National Open at the Penn State Golf Course in University Park, PA. Jack Miller led the men for the third straight race while freshman Emily Jobes posted the highest finish on the women's side.
"Miller really stepped up for us today as with the heat, no one wanted to take it out," stated cross country coach Brad Herbster. "Our guys were in the lead and half way through, Cornell and Penn State made a charge to pull away late. The guys ran patient but we need to continue to work on being tough in the last kilometer. On the women's side, Jobes was a tough competitor for us today."
Behind Miller's strong second place finish, the Pitt men posted a third place team finish with 71 points while Cornell earned the team title with a score of 34 points and Penn State came in second, one point ahead of Pitt, with a score of 70 points.
