
Pitt Set for Final Regular Season Matches

Panthers Face Clemson, No. 22 Wake Forest
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh tennis team hits the road this weekend for its final regular season regular season matches in program history. The Panthers will first face Clemson Friday, April 12 before traveling to No. 22 Wake Forest Sunday, April 14.
Pitt (4-15, 0-12 ACC) and the Tigers (8-14, 2-10 ACC) will square off at 2:30 p.m. at Duckworth Family Tennis Facility in Clemson, S.C. The Panthers conclude the regular season when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C., Sunday, April 14 to take on the 22nd-ranked Demon Deacons (17-7, 7-5 ACC) at Wake Forest Tennis Center at 10 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT
- The Panthers dropped a pair of ACC matches to No. 30 Syracuse, 5-2, and No. 41 Boston College, 5-2 last week.
- Against the Orange on April 5, the Pitt started out strong, clinching the doubles point to earn the advantage entering singles. The doubles team of senior Gabriela Rezende and sophomore Claudia Bartolome turned in the first win on court one, 6-2, followed by a 6-4 win on court three by senior Natsumi Okamoto and freshman Mariona Perez Noguera.
- On April 7 against the Eagles, Pitt was unsuccessful in doubles play. Senior Clara Lucas and Camila Moreno secured the only doubles win of the day on court two before the Eagles were ultimately able to clinch the doubles point.
- Back-to-back Pitt wins by Moreno on court four and senior Luisa Varon at the No. 1 spot gave the Panthers their two team points of the day.
- Clemson enters the weekend 8-14 overall after dropping two matches their last time out against No. 4 Duke and No. 34 Georgia Tech.
- The Tigers enter the weekend with two ranked singles players in No. 79 Marie Leduc and Fernanda Navarro checking in at No. 121. Leduc leads the Tigers in singles wins, 9-8, at the No. 1 spot with two of those wins over nationally ranked opponents. Leduc and Navarro rank fifth when playing together in doubles.
- Prior to hosting the Panthers Sunday, the Deacons will battle Virginia Tech Friday, April 12 at 3 p.m.
- Last time out, Wake Forest dropped a pair of ACC matches to No. 10 NC State and No. 2 North Carolina.
- Friday afternoon, the Deacons earned the advantage early after clinching the doubles point and a win at No. 5 singles, before the Wolfpack picked up five singles wins for a comeback victory.
- No. 33 Emma Davis leads the Deacons 14-7 at the No. 1 spot, with six of those wins coming against nationally ranked opponents. Davis also ranks 37th nationally when playing alongside junior Chandler Carter. The duo leads Wake Forest with a 14-7 mark at No. 1 doubles, defeating six ranked doubles teams.
