
Pitt Hosts Final Home Duals in Program History

Panthers Take on No. 10 NC State Friday and No. 2 North Carolina Sunday
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh tennis team will host a pair of top-10 opponents at the Oxford Athletic Club for the last time in program history this weekend.
Pitt (4-11, 0-8 ACC) first hosts No. 10 NC State (17-3, 7-1 ACC) Friday, March 29 at 3 p.m. The final home tennis match is slated for Sunday, March 31 at 11 a.m. as the Panthers take on No. 2 North Carolina (20-1, 8-0 ACC).

LAST TIME OUT
- The Panthers were blanked by No. 22 Virginia Friday, March 23 at the Oxford Athletic Club.
- The Cavaliers clinched the doubles point with back-to-back wins on courts two and three, before winning all singles matches.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
- NC State enters the weekend ranked No. 10 in the latest Oracle/ITA Team rankings after previously being ranked 12th.
- The Wolfpack are on a seven-match winning streak and have collected three wins over ranked opponents in the month of March. NC State's last loss came Feb. 27 to then-ranked No. 1 North Carolina, 2-5.
- Three singles players represent the Wolfpack in the rankings, with the highest checking in at No. 31 in Anna Rogers.
- Rogers leads the team at No. 1 singles with a 15-4 record and is 25-10 overall.
- In doubles, Rogers is ranked alongside teammate Alana Smith. The pair check in at No. 9 and are 25-3 on the year and 15-2 at No. 1 doubles.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
- North Carolina ranks No. 2 in the country this week after previously being ranked No. 1.
- Prior to taking on the Panthers in Pittsburgh, UNC will stop in Syracuse, N.Y., to take on the Orange, Friday, March 29.
- The Tar Heels have won 11 straight duals with the lone loss of the year coming against Georgia Feb. 12 in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship title match.
- The reigning ACC Champions boast four ranked singles players within the top 25, as well as two doubles players ranked in the top eight.
- Alexa Graham is the highest ranked Tar Heel, checking in at No. 3 in singles. Graham leads the team with a 26-3 overall record.
CLOSING THE DOORS
- The University of Pittsburgh Director of Athletics Heather Lyke announced Jan. 10, 2019 that women's tennis will be discontinued as an intercollegiate athletics program at the conclusion of the 2019 season.
UP NEXT
- The Panthers will conclude their season with four road duals before the 2019 ACC Championships, beginning April 17.
- Pitt travels to Syracuse, N.Y., Friday, April 5 to take on the Orange and will conclude its weekend in Chestnut Hill, Mass., taking on Boston College Sunday, April 7.
