Panthers to Compete at Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown

Pitt to Run at 2018 ACC Cross Country Championship Course
PITTSBURGH – The Pitt men's and women's cross country teams will get a preview of the 2018 ACC Cross Country Championship course at Franklin Park, competing at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown Friday.
The women's 5K race is set to begin at 3 p.m., with the men's 8K race to follow at 3:30 p.m. A combined 5K at 4:15 p.m. will complete the meet. A recap of the day's races will be posted to PittsburghPanthers.com.

- Set to compete for the women are freshmen Devon Hoernlein and Caelan Miller, sophomores Ally Brunton, Emily Burd, and Mikaela Vlasic, juniors Sarah Frick and Sam Shields and seniors Natalie Hilton, Stephanie Lednak, Miranda Salvo, and Makenzie Zeh.
- Competing for the men are freshmen Evan Addison, Tyler Rollins and Brain Spolarich, sophomores Josh Higgins and Zach Lefever, juniors Jackson Morton and Nick Wolk and seniors Matt McGoey and Nate Sloan.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
- Teams competing alongside Pitt on the women's side are Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Bucknell, No. 28 Dartmouth, Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Lehigh, No. 24 Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, Northeastern, No. 11 Providence, Quinnipiac, Stony Brook, No. 22 Syracuse, UMass Amherst, UMass Lowell, UNC Chapel Hill, Utah, No. 17 Virginia and Wake Forest.
- Men's teams participating will be from Boston College, Boston University, Brown, Bucknell, No. 12 Campbell, Dartmouth, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Lehigh, No. 30 Mississippi, New Hampshire, Northeastern, RV Providence, Quinnipiac, RV Stony Brook, No. 11 Syracuse, UMass Amherst, UMass Lowell, UNC Chapel Hill, Vermont, No. 17 Virginia, Wake Forest and No. 26 Washington.
LAST TIME OUT
- At the Spiked Shoe Invitational in University Park, Pa. (Sept. 7), the men's squad placed sixth with 153 points, and the women took seventh with 209 points.
- Freshman Devon Hoernlein placed first for the Panthers and 28th overall in the women's 6K race with a time of 22:16. Following her, senior Natalie Hilton (22:27) and sophomore Mikaela Vlasic (23:04) were able to move up for the Panthers in the last mile and help them secure seventh place.
- Sophomore Zach Lefever crossed the finish line first for Pitt and 12th overall in the 5.2-mile race with a time of 26:25. Shortly behind him, freshman Evan Addison (26:35) took 19th place with freshman Tyler Rollins following in 31st at 27:04.

- The Pitt women's cross country team will appear in the CMU Invitational at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh Saturday, Oct. 6.
