Panthers Continue Home Stretch with No. 45 Clemson

Pitt to Host Tigers Friday, April 6
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh tennis team is set to host No. 45 Clemson Friday, April 6 in ACC play at the Oxford Athletic Club.
The Panthers (6-10, 0-9 ACC) and the Tigers (7-8, 3-5 ACC) will face off at 4 p.m.
THE SERIES
- Pitt and Clemson will meet for the fifth time in program history Friday.
- The Tigers lead the series 4-0, with their last win coming a year ago in a decisive 7-0 decision in Clemson, South Carolina.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Panthers dropped both matches last weekend falling to No. 34 Syracuse and No. 50 Boston College.
- The Orange clinched the doubles point on courts one and two, then tacked on four single wins to claim victory, 5-2, over Pitt Friday Afternoon.
- Freshman Claudia Bartolome and Camila Moreno had the lone point for the Panthers on the day.
- On Sunday the Eagles clinched the doubles point on courts three and two, then added four more singles wins to secure victory over the Panthers, 5-2.
- Senior Callie Frey and Bartolome were the only Panthers to win their matches in singles.
PANTHERS IN THE POLLS
- In the latest Oracle/ITA Division I Tennis Doubles Rankings, the Pitt team of Frey and Moreno checked in at No. 84.
- The pair are 10-7 overall with a 7-4 mark in duals.
- Their most notable win of the season came against the then-ranked No. 12 Virginia doubles team of Rosie Johanson and Meghan Kelley.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
- In Clemson's last time out, they defeated NC State, 4-3, Friday, March 30, before defeating Notre Dame, 5-2, Sunday April 1.
-Junior Marie-Alexandre Leduc who is ranked No. 20 in singles, extended her winning streak to four games as she won both of her matches against the Wolfpack and the Fighting Irish.
- Leduc has an overall record of 18-7 and is 9-4 in duals this season for Clemson as she is 9-4 at the No. 1 spot for singles.
- The doubles team of junior Fernando Navarro and Leduc have an overall record of 18-5 and 10-2 in duals this season at the No. 1 spot.
- Navarro and Leduc are currently on an eight game winning streak and ranked No. 44 in the nation.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Panthers home stretch comes to a close, as they host No. 4 Georgia Tech Friday, April 13 at 4 p.m., followed by No. 3 Duke Sunday, April 15 at 11 a.m. in their last home match of the season.
