Lauray Ties Pitt High Jump Record

Rookie Matches Program-Best Mark
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Freshman Greg Lauray reached new heights for Pitt track and field as he tied the program record in men's high jump at the Virginia Classic at Lannigan Field Saturday.
The rookie recorded a mark of 2.16m (7'1") and was runner-up in the event behind Tennessee's Darryl Sullivan, who posted the same mark in fewer tries. Lauray's feat had not been achieved in 39 years, since Dan Goodyear set the school standard in 1979.

In the multi-events, senior Sullena Staton placed eighth in the heptathlon with 4,169 points, and freshman Cobe Wiggins took ninth in the decathlon with 5,510 points.

- Senior Nicole Bell, sixth, women's high jump, 1.61m (5'3.25")
- Sophomore Taylor Middleton, seventh, women's long jump, 5.86m
- Senior Morgan Harvey, seventh, women's 400m hurdles invitational, 59.43; Senior Laila Ismail, eighth, 59.88
- Freshman Alexis Leech, fifth, women's 400m hurdles, 1:06.39; Sophomore Aysha Muhammad, sixth, 1:06.39; Sophomore Nina Crawford, seventh, 1:08.16
