
Pitt to Compete in ITA Atlantic Regional Championships

Panthers Resume Fall Action in Blacksburg, Va.

PITTSBURGH— The University of Pittsburgh tennis team heads to Blacksburg, Va., this weekend to compete in the 2017 ITA Regional Championship hosted by Virginia Tech.
Matches will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13 at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center, followed by a 9 a.m. start on Saturday and Sunday as well.
Pitt is one of 25 teams participating this weekend including: Delaware, Duquesne, George Washington, Georgetown, Hampton, Howard, James Madison, Liberty, Longwood, Marshall, Maryland, Mount St. Mary's, Navy, Old Dominion, Penn State, Radford, Richmond, St. Joseph's, Towson, VCU, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and William & Mary.
Freshmen Claudia Bartolome and Camila Moreno, juniors Clara Lucas and Gabriela Rezende as well as senior Callie Frey will represent the Panthers this weekend.

There will be two rounds of singles qualifying and round of 64 doubles matches Friday. Round of 32 and 16 doubles matches will continue into Saturday and the round of 64 main draw singles matches will start on the second day as well. Main draw singles matches will start on Saturday not before 11:30. Doubles quarterfinals and singles round of 32 and 16 will take place on Sunday.
Monday will feature doubles semifinals, singles quarterfinals and doubles finals. Tuesday marks the end of the ITA Regional Championships when the winner of the singles tournament will be decided.
