Women's Tennis Posts Fifth Shutout Of The Season

PITTSBURGH--The University of Pittsburgh women's tennis team posted its fifth shutout of the season with a 7-0 win over St. Vincent, this past weekend. Pitt's record improves to 7-4 on the season.

The Panthers swept doubles action for the fifth time this season. The team of freshman Kristy Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) and sophomore Leah Friedman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) picked up their seventh win of the season and third shutout of the year, while junior Annie Davies (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg) and senior Becky Emmers (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) also tallied a shutout in the sweep.

In singles play, Borza and sophomore Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) handed 6-0, 6-0 decisions to their opponents from the No. 1 and No. 5 spots, respectively.
