Wumi Agunbiade joined the Pitt women’s basketball staff in September 2017 as the team’s graduate student manager.
A Pickering, Ontario, native, Agunbiade came to Pitt following a three-year professional playing career overseas. Most recently, she played for TSV 1880 Wasserburg in the German DBBL League. In nine DBBL games, she averaged 9.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. She also participated in the Eurocup with Wasserburg, where she averaged 11.2 points and 4.0 rebounds per game. In eight games with Cluj Napoca in Romania, she averaged 7.3 pgg and 5.3 rpg.
Agunbiade spent the 2015-16 season with Umbertide of the Liga Feminine in Italy, averaging 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game and recorded three double-doubles. She scored a season-high 22 points in Umbertide's 78-73 win over Orvieto.
In her first season overseas, Agunbiade led Romania's Alba Iulia to a 20-6 regular season record (22-10 overall) and a fourth place finish in the 14-team league, including a berth in the finals of the Romanian Cup. She was second on team with 15.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while shooting 46.8 percent from the floor. She recorded 10 total double-doubles, including a career-high 33 points and tied a career-high with 14 rebounds in 83-61 win over CS Nova Vita on November 19, 2014.
The 6-foot-2 forward played at Duquesne for three seasons, from 2010-13, where she finished her college career as the Dukes’ second all-time leading scorer with 1,776 points. She is the only player in Duquesne history to score 1,700 points and record 900 rebounds. She led the class of 2014 to 88 wins, tied for best all-time at Duquesne. She was a three-time All-Atlantic 10 selection, and was named the conference’s Rookie of the Year in 2011.
Agunbiade is pursuing a MBA at Pitt while managing duties with the women’s basketball staff.
