Women's Soccer Preps for Sunday Match at Santa Clara

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt women's soccer team plays its second of two games on the West Coast Sunday at Santa Clara. The game is set to kick off at 3 p.m. ET and will stream on ESPN+.
BITS FROM THE 'BURGH
- Pitt secured a win in its first road game of the season, downing LMU 2-1 Thursday.
- Celine Ottah netted her first goal as a Panther in the opening half, giving the Panthers an early 1-0 lead. Ottah joined the Panthers in 2024 after spending her freshman year at Polk State College.
- Lola Abraham is the first Panther to record two goals on the year. The junior captain scored the eventual game-winner for Pitt, burying a penalty kick past the LMU keeper.
- The Pitt defense didn't allow a shot in the first 45 minutes of action. The Panthers tallied 16 shots to the Lions eight over the full 90 minutes of action.
GAME WINNERS
- Lola Abraham now has two game-winning goals for the Panthers on the season, a career-high for the junior. Abraham netted one game winner a year ago against Dayton.
- Katie Ellermeyer led all Panthers in game-winners last season with three.

- The Panthers have outshot their opponents 50-28 to open the season, leading in shots on goal 15-10 as well.
- Pitt has also taken more corners to start the year than its opponents. The Panthers have drawn 30 corners to opponents 17.

- Katie Zailski has moved into 11th in the Panther record book in career minutes played. She's played full time in every match this season and is up to 5,378 career minutes played.
SCOUTING SANTA CLARA
- Pitt and Santa Clara meet for the second time in program history. The Broncos were victorious last year at Ambrose Urbanic Field, taking a 2-0 win back to the Golden State.
- The Broncos are receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll.
- In 2025, Santa Clara posted an 8-6-5 record with a 4-2-5 mark in the West Coast Conference.
- Three Broncos, Izzy De Buyl, Mailin Orozco and Kennedy Schoennauer were named to the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list.
- Santa Clara is 1-0-2 to start the year. The Broncos scored a win in the season opener over San Jose State and has drawn the last two games, 1-1 against California and Oregon.
