COLUMBUS, OH – Pitt Lacrosse will kick off their fifth season of competition Saturday in Ohio, as the Panthers face B1G foe Ohio State. The non-conference clash is set for a 12 p.m. start inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.
Saturday's season opener marks the second year in a row that Pitt has left Pittsburgh to kick off their year. In 2025, the Panthers took down St. Bonaventure on the road 13-12 (OT), bringing their record to 4-0 in season openers.
The Pitt roster is made up of 21 returners and 10 newcomers, including eight freshmen and two transfers. The junior class of five leads in most statistical categories as Kaitlyn Giandonato, Avery Moon and Paige Telatovich have collectively scored 64 goals and added 27 assists. Aidan Carr will be at the center of the draw circle after setting a Pitt record with 85 last season. Megan Sheridan already finds herself in the top 10 in program history with 51 ground balls and 47 caused turnovers to her name. Senior Molly Cain brings experience to the net after starting each of the 16 games in 2025. She's had nine games with 10+ saves in her career and 10 with eight or more.
The Panthers finished last season with an 8-8 record, including a 2-7 mark in ACC play. The two conference wins were the most in a season and included a 13-12 win over No. 25 Notre Dame for the program's first ranked victory.
Ohio State went 8-7 in 2025 and finished 1-7 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes return five of their seven leading scorers from last season and goalie Jocelyn Torres started all 15 games for the scarlet and gray.
