
Panthers Face No.3 Stanford on Sunday Afternoon

PITTSBURGH — The Pitt women's soccer team (4-3-2, 0-1-0 ACC) will cap off its six-game homestand with a matchup against No.3 Stanford on Sunday, Sept. 14 at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
THE OPENING KICK
•The Panthers are seeking their first win of conference play, as well as their first win in program history over the Cardinal (6-1-1, 0-0-1 ACC). The two teams met for the first time last season in Palo Alto, where the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
•Sunday's matchup marks Stanford's inaugural visit to Pittsburgh after joining the ACC in 2024.
•Freshman Katie Ellermeyer leads the squad with five goals on the season after scoring in Pitt's ACC opener against Cal on Thursday night. Ellermeyer sits ninth in program history for freshman goals scored.
•Senior Margaret Wilde made her first career start against Cincinnati, netting Pitt's only goal in a breakout performance. She enters Thursday's match with two goals and two assists on the season.
•Sage Stelzer notched her second assist of the season on Thursday with a cross into the box from the left corner. Stelzer is one of three Panthers to earn the starting nod in all nine contests played on the season.
THE OPPOSITION
•Stanford enters the matchup 6-1-1 on the season, earning a 2-2 draw in their ACC opener at Clemson on Thursday night.
•The Cardinal wrapped up nonconference play with their first loss of the season to UCLA, falling 2-0 on the road after a perfect 6-0 start to the season.
• Stanford leads the ACC and ranks among the top five nationally in shots per game, averaging over 24 attempts per match. The Cardinal have outshot their opponents 195-40 through eight games.
•The offensive charge is led by Stanford's Jasmine Aikey, scoring seven goals and one assist in the Cardinal's first eight games of the season.
