Panthers Face a Top Ten Test Against the No. 8 Tar Heels

PITTSBURGH - Pitt hosts the no. 8 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels in a three-game set at Charles L. Cost Field.
The last time the Tar Heels came to Pittsburgh, the teams only played one game due to inclement weather.
Notes
• Pitt scored sixteen unanswered runs on Wednesday evening to run-rule Mercyhurst in seven innings, 16-6.
• INF Caden Dulin had the first multiple-home run game of his career in Saturday's series finale at Duke. He has homered in three of his last seven at-bats.
• Catcher Jayden Melendez recorded the 100th hit of his Pitt career on Wednesday on an RBI single in the third inning. Melendez went 3-3 with a HR, 2B and a career-high five RBIs. He has accumulated 102 hits, 86 RBIs and 30 HRs in his three years at Pitt.
• First baseman Luke Cantwell has recorded a hit in 24 out of Pitt's last 29 games. He has reached base safely in every game during that stretch. Cantwell is hitting .373 with 53 hits, 32 RBI, 18 doubles and a triple this year. He is 15th in the country in doubles.
• Sophomore third baseman Ryan Zuckerman homered in game two of Pitt's series at Duke last weekend. Zuckerman is hitting .316 and leading the team in home runs (10), RBIs (37) runs scored (34) and slugging percentage (.599). He is second in hits (48) and doubles (13).
• Senior David Pedanou has patrolled the outfield all season for the Panthers. He has 60 putouts with one outfield assist and has yet to record an error this year. Pedanou has made 28 starts in his 30 games played.
• LHP Ethan Firoved ranks second in the ACC in saves with six. In fifteen appearances this year, Firoved has a 3.35 ERA with one win and 50 strikeouts.
• The Panthers' offense ranks fifth in the ACC in hit by pitches and eighth in walks.
