
Yendell Named Third Team CSC Academic All-America

PITTSBURGH - Fifth-year swimmer Sophie Yendell was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America Third Team this afternoon.
An Urban Studies and Urban Plan & Geographic Analysis major, Yendell has maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.81 during her time at the University of Pittsburgh. This is her first Academic All-America honor.
The Tamworth, England native earned All-America status in the 50 Free and honorable mention All-America status in the 100 Fly at the Women's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships one month ago. She became Pitt's first female All-American swimmer since 1986 when she finished fifth in the 50 Free. Yendell's fifth-place finish was the highest NCAA finish by a woman in program history.
Throughout her career, Yendell has garnered ACC Academic Honor Roll, All-ACC Academic Team and CSC Academic All-District Team honors.
Student-athletes who were named to the CSC Academic All-District Team and were selected as finalist were eligible for the Academic All-America ballot. The CSC Academic All-America Teams were determined by a nation-wide vote by CSC members.
