Shannon Breaks Program Record on Day 2 of Texas Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas - The Pitt swim team recorded six top-eight finishes in the finals on the second day of the Texas Invitational, highlighted by a school-record performance from Kimmy Shannon.
Sydney Gring opened finals with a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in 51.48. On the men's side, Julian Koch added another fifth-place showing for the Panthers with a 45.53 in the 100-yard butterfly.
Shannon followed with a seventh-place finish in the 400-yard IM, posting a 4:07.80 to break the school record. James Allison also placed seventh, clocking a 1:34.64 in the 200-yard freestyle.
Pitt closed the night with two top-eight results in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The women finished eighth in 1:29.67, while the men placed sixth in 1:18.29.
Pitt will return to action Thursday for Day 3 of the Texas Invitational.
