
Panthers Clash with Cavaliers in Charlottesville

PITTSBURGH - Pitt travels to Charlottesville, VA for another weekend of ACC play as they get set to face the Virginia Cavaliers.
The last time the Panthers visited Virginia, they took the series from the then No. 7 ranked Cavaliers and snapped their record 23-game home win streak.
Pitt has won each of their last two series at Virginia. They've won four of their last six series against the Cavaliers dating back to 2018.
Notes
• LHP Ryan Reed was named this week's ACC Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Miami in game two of their doubleheader last Friday. He threw seven shutout innings and allowed just four baserunners while he struck out five.
• This season, Pitt has six comeback victories when trailing in the fifth inning or later. The Panthers came back in the eighth inning to win game one of their doubleheader at Boston College two weeks ago.
• First baseman Luke Cantwell has recorded a hit in 19 out of Pitt's last 22 games. There have been just five games this season where he has been held hitless. Cantwell is hitting .398 with 47 hits, 26 RBI, 16 doubles and a triple this year. He is seventh in the country in doubles.
• Sophomore third baseman Ryan Zuckerman had his third three-hit game of the season in Sunday's rubber match against Miami. Zuckerman is hitting .318 and leading the team in home runs (9), RBIs (35) and slugging percentage (.620). He is second in hits (38), runs scored (28) and doubles (12).
• LHP Ethan Firoved earned his sixth save of the year game one of their doubleheader at Boston College. In thirteen appearances this year, Firoved has a 2.84 ERA with one win and 42 strikeouts.
• The Panthers' offense ranks fourth in the ACC in hit by pitches and eighth in walks.
