Pitt Meets Penn State in Midweek

PITTSBURGH - Pitt travels to Penn State for a midweek battle on Tuesday. This will be the third-consecutive year that the Panthers have traveled to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
The Panthers blanked the Nittany Lions, 10-0 at home, in their most recent meeting last May. Pitt's last win at Penn State came on April 19, 2021.

• First baseman Luke Cantwell had the first four-hit game of his career on Saturday. In his last 10 games, he is hitting .550 with 22 hits, 29 total bases, 11 RBIs and seven doubles while slugging .725. He leads the ACC in on-base percentage (.558) and just eclipsed the century mark for career hits at Pitt.
• In Pitt's two midweek wins last week, they scored 33 runs, combined for 30 hits and slugged seven home runs.
• This season, Pitt has five comeback victories when trailing in the fifth inning or later.
• LHP Ethan Firoved earned his fifth save of the year in Sunday's win against NC State. In nine appearances this year, Firoved has a 2.13 ERA with five saves, one win and 33 strikeouts.
• Sophomore third baseman Ryan Zuckerman had the third multi-homer game of his career, and second this season, vs. Akron last Tuesday. He leads the team in home runs (7), runs scored (23), RBIs (25) and slugging percentage (.660). He is second in hits (33) and doubles (10).
• The Panthers' offense ranks 4th in the ACC in hit by pitches and 8th in the base on balls.
• The Panthers added 22 newcomers to campus for the 2025 season. Among them are 16 transfers and 6 freshmen. Per 64Analytics, the Panthers landed a top-20 transfer portal recruiting class.
