PITTSBURGH — The Pitt women's soccer team (5-10-2, 1-8-0 ACC) will close out its regular season Thursday, Oct. 30, hosting No. 1 Notre Dame at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Opening Kick
• Pitt looks to rebound from a challenging weekend on the road, dropping a 2-1 decision to Wake Forest on Thursday before falling 2-0 to No. 3 Virginia on Sunday. Despite a dominant second-half effort against the Demon Deacons, the Panthers were unable to find the equalizer before the final whistle.
• Thursday's matchup marks the 20th all-time meeting between the programs, with Notre Dame holding a 15-1-3 advantage in the series. Pitt last defeated the Fighting Irish in September 2022 with a 3-1 victory, while Notre Dame claimed last year's contest 3-2.
• Technical Director Randy Waldrum will square off against his former program, where he served as head coach from 1999 to 2013. During his tenure in South Bend, Waldrum guided the Fighting Irish to two national championships and remains the winningest coach in program history.
• Eight different Panthers have scored this season, led by freshman Katie Ellermeyer with six goals. Ellermeyer was recently named to the TopDrawerSoccer Midseason Top 100 Freshmen list, coming in at No. 57. Mya Archibald recorded her first goal in a Pitt uniform against Wake Forest.
• Midfielder Magali Gagne has provided a boost to the Panthers' lineup since returning from injury, averaging more than 80 minutes per match over her last five appearances. She has taken nine shots — four on target — in the last four games and was recently named to the Canadian Women's Futsal National Team ahead of the Futsal World Cup in November.
• The Panthers' back line has been a model of consistency, anchored by Sage Stelzer and Olivia Lee, who have started every match this season. Lee leads the team in minutes played with 1,527.
Scouting the Opposition
• Notre Dame enters the regular-season finale undefeated at 13-0-2 overall and 8-0-1 in ACC play.
• The Fighting Irish are led by standout forward Izzy Engle, who has 17 goals this season and ranks third nationally in both total goals and total points.
• Notre Dame ranks among the top five nationally in several offensive categories, sitting third in points per game and scoring offense, and fourth in total goals and total points.
