Panthers Complete Regular Season Campaign at Kidney Care Championships

NASHVILLE, T.N. – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (7-11-0, 1-5 ACC) completed their regular season campaign at the Teen Choice Award Presents: Kidney Care Gymnastics Championships, Saturday afternoon at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.
The Panthers posted their third highest team score of the season (195.925), topping the Talladega Tornados (192.500) but falling to the Georgia GymDogs (197.450), Maryland Terrapins (196.725), and Iowa Hawkeyes (196.525).
BEAM | 48.825
The Panthers started the afternoon off on beam – posting a team score of 48.825. Sophomore Carla Ferzoco posted a career-high score of 9.800 for her routine. Hallie Copperwheat also showed up for Pitt – earning a 9.800 as well. Sophomore Reyna Garvey put up a 9.775 while Jordyn Ewing and Emily Todd secured a 9.725.
FLOOR | 49.125
Pitt came in ready for more in the second rotation – putting up a team score of 49.125. Each of the six Panthers in the lineup up secured a 9.800 or higher. Senior Ciara Ward kicked off the event – earning a 9.850. Freshman Kaylee Larson, senior Jah'Liyah Bedminster and Ewing each posted a 9.825 for their routines. Emily Todd and Copperwheat secured a 9.800 to finish out the rotation.
VAULT | 49.000
Coming off of the bye rotation, the Panthers showed up on vault. Five Panthers posted a 9.750 or higher on the event. Fifth year Shruthi Anand secured a strong 9.825. Arayah Simons posted a 9.800 while Ward earned a 9.775 and Garvey posted a 9.750. Bedminster anchored the rotation with a 9.850 – putting up Pitt's highest score on the event.
BARS | 48.875
The Panthers rounded out the afternoon on bars. Each Panther on the rotation earned a 9.700 or higher with three Panthers posting a 9.800+. Ewing posted Pitt's highest score on the event with her 9.850. Simons was not far behind her – earning a 9.825. Bedminster anchored the event again – putting up a 9.800 for her routine. Freshman Emily Todd completed the afternoon with her 9.775 on floor. Duke posted a 9.725 while Faith Lerro earned a 9.700.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will travel down to Greensboro, NC on March 23 for the ACC Championships. Pitt will compete in a quad meet against ACC foes Clemson, NC State and North Carolina.
