
Panthers Tie for Third at ACC Championships

Three Panthers earn All-Championship Team honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team posted their third-highest team score of the season (196.300) to complete the 2024 ACC Gymnastics Championships, Saturday night at the Greensboro Coliseum. The Panthers tied for third overall with the North Carolina Tarheels and fell to the ACC Champions NC State (197.550) and the Clemson Tigers (196.425).
Juniors Hallie Copperwheat and Jordyn Ewing each claimed podium spots tonight for their performances. Copperwheat tied for second overall with her 9.900 on beam while Ewing tied for second on floor with her 9.950.
BEAM | 49.050
The Panthers started the evening off strong with their 49.050 on beam. Sophomore Kennedy Duke posted a 9.800 for her routine to kick off the event. Freshman Emily Todd and sophomores Reyna Garvey and Carla Ferzoco each posted a 9.750. Ewing posted a strong routine for Pitt – earning a 9.850. Copperwheat ancorched the event – tying for the second place overall with her 9.900.
FLOOR | 49.350
Pitt secured their season high team score on floor tonight – earning a 49.350. Four Panthers posted a 9.850 or higher for their routines tonight. Fifth year Ciara Ward was first up in the lineup – earning a 9.850 for her routine. Kaylee Larson was up next with her 9.775. Copperwheat put up a strong 9.875 to count towards the Panthers team score. Senior Jah'Liyah Bedminster earned a career-high score this evening on floor with her 9.900. Ewing anchored the event – tying for second place overall after earning a career-high 9.950.
VAULT | 48.650
The Panthers continued the momentum on to vault. Duke started things off strong – earning a 9.750. Arayah Simons Shruthi Anand and Bedminster each earned a 9.700. Ward put up Pitt's highest score of the night on vault – earning a 9.800.
BARS | 49.200
Pitt topped off the evening with power as they posted a 49.200 on bars. Senior Faith Lerro kicked things off for Pitt with her 9.800. Simons and Ewing each earned a 9.825 for their routines. Todd put up a beautiful routine -earning a 9.850 to count towards Pitt's team score. Bedminster anchored the event – earning a career-high 9.900.
Three Panthers earned All-Championship Team honors for their performances tonight. Bedminster was named to the All-Championship Floor and Bars teams. Copperwheat was named to the All-Championship Beam team while Ewing earned a spot on the All-Championship Floor team. These honors were awarded to the top-six competitors on each event and the top-two all-arounders of the evening.
