Pitt post three first-place titles
PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh gymnastics team (3-5, 1-3 ACC) posted their second highest team score of the season, 195.900, but came up short to the Clemson Tigers' (4-1, 3-1 ACC) 196.375 Friday night at the annual Pride meet.
VAULT | 49.000
The Panthers kicked off the night with a strong performance on vault. Four Panthers posted a 9.800 or higher on vault this evening. Sophomore Kennedy Duke kicked things off for Pitt with her 9.825. Arayah Simons was not far behind – posting a 9.850. Ciara Ward secured a strong 9.825. Senior Jah'Liyah Bedminster anchored the event for Pitt – earning a strong 9.900 for the Panthers. With her score, she earned the first-place title overall.
BARS | 48.875
Pitt continued the momentum into the second rotation. Arayah Simons posted the strongest routine for the Panthers on bars – securing a 9.825. Her performance earned her the first-place overall title. Faith Lerro earned a strong 9.750 for her routine. Jordyn Ewing secured a 9.800 while freshman Emily Todd posted a 9.775.
BEAM | 48.850
The Panthers posted a strong rotation on beam with three Panthers securing a 9.800 or higher tonight. Emily Todd continued her journey in the All-Around – kicking things off for Pitt with her 9.725. Simons posted the strongest routine again for the Panthers – earning a 9.850. Reyna Garvey and Hallie Copperwheat completed the rotation for Pitt – each earning a 9.800 for their performances.
FLOOR | 49.175
Pitt finished the evening off with their strongest event – finishing with a 49.175. Todd secured a 9.800 on floor – completing her All-Around journey with a 38.900. Freshman Kaylee Larson earned a 9.825 while senior Bedminster posted a 9.875 for their routines. Ewing anchored the event with a showstopping performance – tying for the first place overall with her 9.900.
