MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The Panthers shattered two school records during the first day of competition at the 2023 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championship at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center Wednesday evening.
"Tonight was a very strong start for our team," said head coach Chase Kreitler. "Krzysztof, Cooper, Marcin and Flynn lowered the 200 Medley Relay team record they set ACCs and placed 20th. This ties our highest relay finish in the last 21 years with the 200 Medley Relay team from 2021 NCAAs. Marcin Goraj also had a fantastic relay lead off on the 800 Free Relay with a 1:33.91 lowering his own school record from ACCs. Marcin was 1:36.55 at 2022 ACCs leading off the 800 Free Relay and 1:34.65 at 2023 ACCs leading off the relay, so his progression over the last year in that event has been phenomenal. With those two records broken today, this year's team has broken 30 records this season."
"While we obviously have goals of getting our relays into top 16 scoring position, we are celebrating every win along the way and are proud to have our relays finish 20th and 21st in the country this year. We are looking forward to the rest of the meet."
The men's 200 medley relay comprised of Krzysztof Radziszewski, Cooper van der Laan, Marcin Goraj, and Flynn Crisci finished 20th overall and broke their own school record with a time of 1:23.89. This ties the highest relay finish with the 2021 200 Medley Relay team in the past 21 years.
Goraj started the 800 free relay off strong - crushing his 200 free school record he set earlier this season with his time of 1:33.91. The relay team of Goraj, Dominic Toledo, Guy Frimis, and Wojciech Dutkowiak finished with a time of 6:20.90.
