Panthers Set For NCAA East Preliminary Round Action To Begin Wednesday

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh track and field teams will compete this week at the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Bloomington, IN with their sights set on advancing to the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, OR in two weeks. The four-day meet will run from Wednesday, May 25 until Saturday, May 28 with 14 Pitt student-athletes vying for a trip to the national meet.

- Qualifying to the Championships site is accomplished through performance in the Preliminary Round competition.
- Twelve competitors from each individual event and 12 teams from each relay event advance from each Preliminary Round site.
- Those accepted into Championships competition based on their performance at Preliminary Round competition will be announced and posted on NCAA.com the week prior to Championships competition.

UP NEXT
- The top 12 finishers in each event will move on to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon from June 8-11. The meet will take place in the historic Hayward Field on the Oregon campus.
- Senior Felix Wolter has already qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the decathlon after winning the ACC title in the event two weeks ago. He enters the championship meet ranked 13th in the country.
- At the national meet, the top-16 finishers in each individual event will earn All-America recognition.
