PITTSBURGH – After a two-week hiatus due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Pitt track and field teams make their return to Philadelphia for the 126th running of the Penn Relays at the historic Franklin Field on the Penn campus.

- Sophomore Foluke Olujide-Ajibade opens things up for the Panthers on Thursday morning as she competes in the college hammer throw at 11:30 am. Action on Thursday will wrap up with Mary Borkoski who competes in the 10,000m run at 9:20 pm.
- Friday will open up with a trio of Panthers in action at 12pm. Clement Campbell and Ilse Steigenga will compete in the long jump while FJ Braccini competes in the college javelin throw. Campbell will then wrap up action on Friday for Pitt at 4:30 pm in the college triple jump.
- Saturday action will begin at 11:30 am as Noah Walker looks for a title in the championship discus throw. Greg Lauray closes out the day for Pitt with the championship high jump at 2:30 pm.
- One of the biggest meets in the country, the Penn Relays field will feature nearly 200 colleges and universities along with athletes from five other countries (Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad).
- 33 of the 50 states will be represented this weekend in Philadelphia.
- At the 125th running of the Penn Relays two seasons ago, Pitt finished off the weekend with one victory, two school records and multiple top-10 all-time marks.
- Sophomore Greg Lauray had an impressive weekend for the Panthers at his second Penn Relays as he was able to claim the victory in the championship section of the high jump on Saturday afternoon in front of a packed crowd at Franklin Field. Lauray edged out his opponent from Penn State with a then school record and personal best leap of 2.18m (7'1.75").
- Lauray wasn't the only Panther to break a school record at the Penn Relays as the women's distance medley relay team also posted the fastest time in school history on Thursday night. The quartet of Makenzie Zeh, Breanna Phillips, Miranda Salvo and Ally Brunton crossed the finish line in 11:33.89, breaking the old school record that was set in 2017. The time was seven seconds faster than the previous school record from two seasons ago.
- The Panthers also saw six top-10 times produced throughout the weekend in Philadelphia led by three steeplechasers who were able to set personal best times on Thursday night. On the men's side, Josh Higgins had a great run in the 3000m steeplechase as he notched a sixth place finish in 8:54.84. Fellow Panther Evan Addison wasn't far behind as he took home ninth place in 8:59.71. On the women's side, Natalie Hilton finished the 3000m steeplechase in 10:30.45, the second fastest time in program history.
- Senior Noah Walker opened up action for the Panthers on Thursday night with a huge personal record and school record throw in the hammer. Walker broke his own school record by over six feet as he notched a throw that traveled 218' (66.64m) to secure third place overall and second among collegiate throwers. His throw currently sits in third in the ACC and 13th in the east region so far this season in the event.
- The Panthers closed out the meet with one of their best performances of the weekend as the men's 4x400m relay team collected their first win of the outdoor season with a season-best time. The quartet of Felix Wolter, Ade Jones-Roundtree, Cobe Wiggins and Lonzell Feagin crossed the finish line first in 3:07.40 which marked the seventh fastest time in program history in the event and the third fastest so far this season in the ACC in the event.
- Making her first career appearance in the women's heptathlon, sophomore Ilse Steigenga had a performance to remember as she took home fourth place with a personal record score of 4897 points. Her total marked the seventh best in program history and the ninth best in the ACC this season. She was able to secure five PR's in the seven events.
- Pitt's jump crew had a big weekend in Virginia as they were able to post six season-best leaps and three top-10 all-time marks. In the men's long jump, the Panthers had three season-best efforts by their three competitors as Wolter led the way with a personal best leap of 25'3.25" (7.70m) to secure fifth place. His leap marked the third best in program history and the eighth best in the ACC this year. Senior Kollin Smith also notched a season-best leap to secure seventh place as he posted a jump of 24'11" (7.59m) while Clement Campbell had a wind-aided (+2.3) season-best jump of 24'6.25" (7.47m). Campbell also posted a wind-aided (+2.7) personal record jump of 48'6.75" (14.80m) in the long jump. His second attempt was wind-legal and he cleared 48'5.50" (14.77m) which marks the 10th best distance in program history in the event.
- On Saturday, the high jump duo of Lydia Bottelier and Greg Lauray were both able to secure top-3 finishes in the high jump. Bottelier tied for second place as she cleared a personal record height of 5'9.50" (1.76m), the third best jump in program history in the event and currently the sixth best in the ACC this year. Lauray cleared a season-best height of 6'11.75" (2.13m) to finish in third place in the talented field.
- The Panthers have a week off before heading down to Duke for the 2022 ACC Outdoor Championships from May 12-14.
