Pitt (14-23, 2-16 ACC) countered with one run in the top of the fourth as Drapola hit a two out RBI double to straight center field to make it a 3-1 ballgame. The Cavaliers got that run back in the next half inning as an error scored one run for a 4-1 contest.
The Panthers chipped away at the lead as junior Kayla Lane hit a two out solo home run to left field in the top of the sixth, her fourth homer of the season. Freshman Ana Hernandez jump started Pitt's offense in the top of the 7th with a single to center. Whaley drew a 10 pitch walk and advanced to second while Hernandez was caught stealing third for two outs in the frame. Drapola singled to center, scoring Whaley and putting Pitt within one, 4-3.
