NEWS & NOTES
Game One vs. Bowling Green
Drogemuller and the defense got out of an early bases loaded jam in the top of the first, as Drogemuller struck out her second batter of the inning to end the threat. In the next half inning, a single and two walks loaded the bases for Seamans, who drove a ball over the left center field wall for a grand slam (4-0). The home run was her third of the season.
Drogemuller again got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the second with a pop-out. She registered seven strikeouts through four innings. Bowling Green (9-5) cut into the lead with three runs in the top of the fifth, as an error drove in one and a single up the middle scored two to make it a 4-3 game.
The Falcons tied the ballgame at 4-4 with a single to centerfield in the top of the sixth. Drogemuller ended the bases loaded threat with her 10th strikeout of the game.
Bowling Green led the top of the seventh inning off with a walk and got a runner to third with one out. The Panthers were able to get the runner at third in a pickle on a groundout and got the would-be leading Falcon run out at the plate. Muraskin, who came into the game in relief at the top of the frame, got a groundout for the third out.
The game went into extras with both teams unable to bring their runs from second via the international tiebreak rules. The Falcons got a baserunner to third with one out in the top of the ninth, but Muraskin recorded a strikeout and line out to keep it tied at four all.
Freshman Kylie Griggs started at second base in the bottom of the ninth and advanced to third with a single from senior Yvonne Whaley. Junior Bailey Drapola laid down a bunt right back to the pitcher, who could not get the Griggs out at home in time as she slid into home for the winning run.
Seamans went 1-for-3 with four RBI and a walk, while Whaley finished with two hits and a run. The game saw 25 runners left on base, with Bowling Green accounting for 16 of them. The extra inning game with the third of the year for the Panthers.
Game Two vs. Houston Baptist
Muraskin started the game for the Panthers and got out of the top of the first with one hit and no runs. Pitt's offense came alive early like the game before it as a Haylie Brunson single drove in a run and a Cami Compson triple also scored one. Compson later scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0 after the first inning.
Pitt scored an insurance run in the bottom of the fifth off the bat of junior Kayla Lane, who singled up the middle to bring in Compson.
Muraskin pitched a gem against the Huskies, throwing six innings of three hit ball, striking out five and walking zero batters. Junior Makenzie Stiles came on in the seventh and recorded a hitless seventh inning.
