Pitt Falls to Bowling Green in Final Day of Lady Bison Classic

- Freshman Amanda "Tuta" Ramirez and senior Katlyn Pavlick each hit two-run home runs.
- The loss snapped a three-game winning streak. Pitt entered winners of seven of its last nine games.
Bowling Green (11-5) took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as a double to right center scored a pair of runs. Pitt (11-8) responded in the top of the second with a two-run home run courtesy of freshman Ramirez, her second of the season.
The Falcons re-took the lead in the bottom of the third as a rundown between second and first scored a baserunner from third as Bowling Green led, 3-2. Graduate student Ally Muraskin came into relief with one out in the inning and recorded a fly out and strikeout to end the frame.
An RBI single brought in a run for the Falcons in the bottom of the fifth as Pitt trailed 4-2 into the sixth inning. Sophomore Cami Compson singled in the top of the sixth and with two outs, Pavlick homered to left center field to tie the game at 4-4. The homer was her third of the season.
The Panthers took the lead, 5-4, in the top of the seventh as an error in the outfield brought in a one run. Bowling Green began the bottom half of the inning with a single and a walk to put two runners on base with no outs. A single loaded the bases and a grand slam ended the game as Pitt fell 8-5.
Pitt registered four hits and left five on base. It tallied three stolen bases for the contest, the fourth time this season with three or more stolen bases in a game.
Pitt hosts Penn State Wednesday, Mar. 16 for its home opener at Vartabedian Field. First pitch is at 5 p.m. with live coverage on the ACC Network.
