PITTSBURGH – After four-straight weeks on the road, the Pitt softball team concludes its five-week road trip Friday through Sunday in the Lady Bison Classic on the campus of Lipscomb University.

- The Panthers conclude a five-week road trip in the Lady Bison Classic. Pitt plays four games in three days on the campus of Lipscomb.
- Pitt is coming off its highest-ranked victory in program history as it defeated No. 3/3 Florida State 7-5 Sunday in Tallahassee.

- Pitt recently concluded its first conference series at Florida State, winning one of two. It has yet to play a home game and holds a 7-4 record in neutral site contests.
- Redshirt freshman Dani Drogemuller went 1-1 against nationally ranked Florida State, totaling 10 strikeouts for 58 on the season. Her ERA of 1.09 ranks third in the ACC while her strikeout total is sixth.
- The Panthers are fifth in the ACC in fielding percentage (.973) and rank third in opponents caught stealing. Freshman Amanda "Tuta" Ramirez has thrown out six runners this year.
- Freshman Haylie Brunson and sophomore Cami Compson have combined for 34 hits, 8 doubles, 4 homers, 23 RBI, 56 total bases and 18 runs this season. Compson is batting .348 with a .609 SLG%, while Brunson has a .346 batting average and .538 SLG%.
SCOUTING REPORT
- Bowling Green enters with an overall record of 9-4 and is currently on a three-game winning streak.
- The Falcons rank 24th in the country in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.11) as pitcher Payton Gottshall has 77 K's on the year, rankings 41st in the nation. She recently threw a five-inning perfect game against Green Bay, striking out all 15 batters faced. Peyton Dolejs (#10) leads the team with a .400 batting average, totaling 16 hits, 4 doubles, 15 RBI, 6 walks and a .625 SLG%.
- Houston Baptist holds a 9-8 overall record and is 4-4 in neutral site games. Shelby Echols (#8) is fourth in the country in batting average (.536), eighth in hits (30), 13th in on-base percentage (.581) and is rated the 50th hardest batter to strikeout (28.0). In eight appearances in the circle, Lyndie Swanson (#33) is 4-1 with 32 K's and three shutouts.
- Host school Lipscomb is 7-12 overall and is currently on a three-game winning streak. The Bisons are 3-3 at home for the year.
- Lipscomb has eight triples on the season, ranking 14th in triples per game (0.42). Presley Leebrick (#7) is 28th in doubles (7) while hitting .328 with 19 hits and 12 RBI. Laine Barefoot (#11) holds a 3-3 record with a .2.49 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 39.1 innings pitched on the year.
HISTORICAL WIN IN TALLAHASSEE
- After dropping the first two of the three game series to No. 3/3 Florida State, the Panthers roared back in a big way for a 7-5 victory in the series finale.
- The win was the highest-ranked victory in program history, surpassing the previous record of No. 6/9 Florida State (6-5/May 7, 2021).
- Of Pitt's eight hits, seven were extra base hits including three two-run home runs. The three home runs by the Panthers were the most allowed by the Seminoles in a game this season. The last time Florida State gave up three home runs in a game - May 7, 2021 vs. Pitt.
DROGEMULLER CONTROLLING THE CIRCLE
- Redshirt freshman Dani Drogemuller has controlled the circle through the early portion of the season, going 6-3 with a 1.09 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 57.2 innings pitched.
- -She has thrown seven complete games, including an eight-inning performance vs. Kansas and an eight-inning showing at USC Upstate. Drogemuller became the 10th pitcher in Pitt history to throw more than 8.0 innings in one game and the 6th pitcher to do it more than once in her career.
- -The Frankfort, Ill., native was superb in the Wings ETC Classic in Spartanburg, S.C., going 2-0 with two complete-games and a shutout. She allowed only 7 hits, 2 walks and 0 earned runs while striking out 19 batters in 15.0 innings pitched.
- -Against USC Upstate, Drogemuller struck out a career-high 12 batters, a number ranked T-5th in the Pitt single-game record books.
- -She went toe-to-toe with All-American Kathryn Sandercock of No. 3/3 Florida State twice Mar. 4-6, going 1-1 with two complete games and 10 total strikeouts. Her complete-game effort in Sunday's 7-5 win aided Pitt to its highest-ranked victory in program history.
- -Drogemuller ranks third in the ACC and 41st nationally in ERA (1.09) and sixth in the league and 60th nationally in strikeouts (58).
- -Drogemuller has faced 205 batters and has kept opposing batting averages to a .176 on the year.
UP NEXT
- After five-straight weeks on the road, Pitt stays home and hosts Penn State Wednesday, Mar. 16 for its first home contest of the year. First pitch is at 5 PM on the ACC Network.
- The Panthers then host nationally-ranked Notre Dame for three games beginning Friday, Mar. 18 through Sunday, Mar. 20.
