Pitt Drops Series-Opener 3-1 at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. – Pitt baseball (6-2, 3-1) dropped the series-opener 3-1 at Duke (5-4, 2-2) Friday evening at Durham Bull Athletic Park. The Panthers were limited to just three hits.
Kyle Hess had two of the hits and got the Panthers the lead in the their first trip to the plate, hitting a two-out homer to right field for his first of the year.
Duke tied it up in the fourth inning with an RBI-fielder's choice. The Blue Devils then got the lead in the sixth inning on a pair of one-run singles.
Pitt is back in action with another road ACC series against Duke starting Friday at 4 p.m.

- Chris Pouliot and David Ferguson each threw a scoreless inning of relief, as Pouliot only faced three batters and Ferguson registered two strikeouts.
- Hess stole second base in the fourth inning, recording his first stolen base of the season.
- Ron Washington Jr. drew the lone walk for Pitt.
