- Pitt swept then-No. 9 Florida State on the road last weekend in its ACC-opening series with 1-0, 7-2 and 9-7 (13 innings) wins.

- It was also the first road sweep in ACC play and just the fourth overall conference sweep.
- The Panthers picked up their fifth-ever win over the Seminoles. Four of the victories have come under the guidance of third-year head coach Mike Bell with the sweep and a 10-0 victory on May 3, 2019 also in Tallahassee.

- Friday night, Mitch Myers threw a gem with six shutout innings, tossing a career-high 13 strikeouts with just two hits and two walks allowed.
- On Saturday, Matt Gilbertson provided another top-quality start with six shutout innings as well with a career-high 10 strikeouts.
- Sunday, the Panthers used 10 pitchers to piece together a comeback win. Trailing 7-3, Pitt scored six unanswered runs to win. David Yanni hit a two-run double in the seventh inning, Nico Popa sent the game into extra innings with a two-run homer in the ninth and Kyle Hess knocked in the winning run with a two-run double in the 13th inning.

- Neither of the two hits Myers allowed went for extra-base hits as the junior registered his first career ACC win and keyed the Panthers to their initial victory in what wound up being its first-ever weekend sweep of the Seminoles and a top-10 ACC team.
- With nine strikeouts against Indiana State, Myers ranks second in the nation in strikeouts with 22.
