Pitt Gymnastics to Compete at George Washington Friday
PITTSBURGH – The Pitt gymnastics team (0-3, 0-2 EAGL) will stay on the road to visit Washington, D.C., for a quad meet hosted by George Washington (6-2, 0-0 EAGL) Friday at 7 p.m. at Charles E. Smith Center. The Panthers will face the host Colonials, along with No. 24 West Virginia (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) and William & Mary (1-3, 0-0 ECAC).

RANKING THE PANTHERS
- Senior Michaela Burton is the EAGL's top performer on uneven bars with an average score of 9.842. She has earned the individual title for the event in each of the Panthers' three meets so far this season.
- Pitt ranks second in the EAGL on bars with an average team score of 48.575, ranking No. 33 in the nation.
- Senior Deven Herbine is third in the EAGL on balance beam with an average of 9.787.
LAST TIME OUT
- Seniors Michaela Burton and Alecia Petrikis earned individual wins for the Pitt, however, the Panthers fell short in their first road meet of the season at North Carolina Saturday evening at Carmichael Arena.
- The Tar Heels topped the Panthers by a score of 193.625-192.450.
- For the third consecutive meet, Burton secured the uneven bars crown with a season high-tying score of 9.850. Petrikis shared the vault title with UNC's Khazia Hislop, marking her first individual win of the season.
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS
- George Washington (6-2, 0-0 EAGL) is the conference's top team on vault with an average score of 48.900. The Colonials are second on beam at 48.742.
- Cydney Crasa is third in the league on vault (9.825) and fourth on beam (9.783).
- Pitt is looking to snap a two-meet slump against the Colonials. GW claimed the last meeting between the teams at the 2019 EAGL Championship (195.825-194.900).
- The Panthers are 1-5 all-time when competing against the Colonials in Washington, D.C.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- West Virginia (2-2, 0-1 Big 12) enters the quad meet ranking No. 24 in the nation with a team average of 195.283. The Mountaineers are also in the Top 25 on beam (No. 24, 48.800 average) and floor (No. 18, 49.017 average).
- Abbie Pierson is tied for No. 4 in the nation on vault with a 9.900 average.
- Friday will mark the 79th meeting between the Panthers and Mountaineers. WVU has claimed the last four meetings between the teams.
- The teams will meet twice more this season, with the Mountaineers visiting Pittsburgh Friday, Feb. 21, and the Panthers traveling to Morgantown Sunday, March 1.
SCOUTING THE TRIBE
- William & Mary (1-3, 0-0 ECAC) rank 58th in the nation according to RoadToNationals.com.
- The Panthers own a 13-8 advantage in the all-time series against the Tribe, winning the last nine meetings between the teams. Pitt and William & Mary last in 2017, where the Panthers claimed the win, 194.725-192.725.
