
Pitt Gymnastics Wins Quad Meet with Season-Best Score

Panthers Earn Season-Best Scores on Every Event
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Pitt gymnastics team (3-3, 1-2 EAGL) made a statement with its best score of the 2020 season, producing a 195.700 to win a quad meet Friday night at Charles E. Smith Center.
The Panthers defeated George Washington (195.375), No. 24 West Virginia (194.850), and William & Mary (191.425).
Pitt earned season-best scores on all four events. On beam, the Panthers tied the eighth-best team score on the event in program history with a 49.075.
Senior Michaela Burton wrote her name into the Pitt record book, tying the fourth-best individual beam score in program history, winning the event with a 9.925.
Two other Panthers picked up individual wins at the meet, including junior Haley Brechwald on vault (9.850) and freshman Ciara Ward on floor (9.875).
BARS
Pitt earned a season-best uneven bars team score with a 48.775, led by Burton with a 9.825. Freshman Reaia Floyd followed with a 9.775, and senior Rachel Dugan produced a season-best 9.750.
BEAM
Pitt checked into the record book in the second rotation, tying the eighth-best beam team score in program history with a 49.075. Burton won the event with a 9.925, matching the fourth-best individual beam score in school history. The 9.925 was Pitt's best on the event since Lindsay Offutt recorded the score in 2016.
All four of the other scorers for Pitt recorded season or career highs, including Jordan Ceccarini (9.850, career high), Deven Herbine (9.800, season high), Lauren Beckwith (9.800, career high) and Kiley Robatin (9.700).
FLOOR
The Panthers extended their momentum into the third rotation, with Ward picking up the win on floor at 9.875, a career-high score. Sophomore Olivia Miller had a career-best 9.850, and senior Alecia Petrikis also scored 9.850 for her best performance of 2020. In total, Pitt earned a season-best score of 49.000 on the event to bring its three-score total to 146.850.
VAULT
Pitt ended the meet on a high note, with Brechwald winning vault at 9.850, tying her career high. Freshman Emily Liszewski earned a career-high 9.800, and Herbine followed with a season high-tying 9.775. The Panthers totaled a season-best 48.850 for the event to win the meet at 195.700.
