Panthers to Preview Site of 2020 EAGL Championship
PITTSBURGH – Pitt gymnastics will head to Chapel Hill, N.C., for its first road trip of the 2020 season, taking on EAGL foe North Carolina Saturday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. ET inside Carmichael Arena.

RANKING THE PANTHERS
- Pitt leads the EAGL on uneven bars with an average team score of 48.538, ranking No. 32 in the nation. The Panthers posted a season-best score of 48.725 on the event against Ball State Sunday. Senior Michaela Burton is the conference's top performer on bars with an average score of 9.838.
- Burton ranks third in the league as an individual on floor exercise with an average of 9.850. The Panthers also rank third as a team on the event, averaging 48.663.
- Senior Deven Herbine is tied for fourth in the EAGL on balance beam with an average of 9.787.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Panthers recorded individual wins on four events Sunday afternoon, however, Pitt short in a dual meet with Ball State at Fitzgerald Field House. The Cardinals edged the Panthers by a score of 193.750-193.225.
- For the second consecutive meet, senior Michaela Burton picked up the crown on uneven bars (9.825) and floor exercise (9.875). Her floor score tied a career high, which she last earned in 2018.
- Freshman Ciara Ward earned the first individual win of her career with a 9.775 on vault, and senior Deven Herbine was the meet's top performer on balance beam at 9.800.
EAGL CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
- Pitt will return to Carmichael Arena March 21 for the 2020 EAGL Championship, hosted by North Carolina. The Panthers placed fourth at the 2019 title meet, hosted by New Hampshire.
SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
- North Carolina (3-1, 1-0 EAGL) holds the EAGL's top team average score of 194.775 through two meets. The Tar Heels also lead the conference on floor with an average score of 48.913.
- UNC picked up a pair of EAGL weekly honors Tuesday afternoon, with senior Khazia Hislop being named Specialist of the Week, and freshman Elizabeth Culton being named Rookie of the Week.
- Pitt claimed the last meeting between the programs at the 2019 EAGL Championship, earning a 194.900-193.950 win in New Hampshire.
- The Panthers are looking for their first win when competing at North Carolina, coming in at 0-4 against the Tar Heels all-time on the road.
UP NEXT
- Pitt will stay on the road for a quad meet at George Washington Friday, Jan. 31., at 7 p.m. ET in Washington, D.C. The Panthers will face the host Colonials, West Virginia and William & Mary.
