Panthers Set Sights On ACC Road Victory At Clemson On Thursday Night

PITTSBURGH – After a week off, the Pitt women's basketball team will head south to take on the Clemson Tigers on Thursday night at 7:00 pm inside the Littlejohn Coliseum. Thursday's battle with the Tigers will air on the ACC Network Extra with Fred Cunningham (play-by-play) and Jim Davis (color) on the call.

- This meeting marks the 14th all-time between the two programs with the Tigers holding the slim 7-6 lead in the series over the Panthers.
- Clemson won the last game in the series last season in Pittsburgh, downing the Panthers 65-59.
- Pitt has won four of the last six in the series against the Tigers.
- Clemson holds the 3-2 series lead in games in Clemson, SC.
- Give Pitt their seventh win all-time against Clemson and third on the road.

- One of the major points of emphasis for Pitt coming into the season was improving on their rebounding and through 15 games the Panthers have done a great job. So far this season, Pitt is averaging 40.9 rpg, a +5.4 rebound margin from a season ago. The +5.4 margin marks the second biggest improvement in the ACC.
- The new-look Pitt lineup has been relying heavily on the production of newcomers as the six newcomers have combined to average 41.6 points and 26.9 rebounds per game. They are accounting for 67.3% of the Pitt scoring this season.
- The Panthers hit the road on Thursday night after a week off as they head south to take on Clemson at 7:00 pm.
- Pitt is being led offensively by Aysia Bugg who is averaging 13.0 points while connecting on a team-high 32 three-pointers.
- Freshman forward Amber Brown is excelling for the Panthers as she is averaging 11.1 points and a team-high 8.4 rebounds. She has recorded five double-doubles and seven games with 10+ rebounds this season.
- Point guard Dayshanette Harris is continuing to make strides for Pitt as she is averaging 9.4 points, 3.9 rebounds, a team-high 2.8 assists and a team-best 1.8 steals.
- The Panthers fell behind early on and were never able to overcome the deficit as they fell 68-56 on the road at Virginia Tech.
- Pitt was led offensively by Amber Brown who finished off her night with 10 points, nine rebounds and three assists while Aysia Bugg netted 10 points and four boards in the loss.
- Gabbie Green and Dayshanette Harris each netted nine points while Rita Igbokwe ripped down nine boards in the loss.

- The Bellville, Texas native has begun to settle into her role and she has been given the green light on the offensive end of the court since the start of ACC play.
- Green currently leads the ACC in three-point field goal percentage (50%) as she has connected on 12 triples though four games.
- On the year, Green ranks fourth on the team averaging 9.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists while connecting on a team-best 36.7% of her three-pointers across 29.7 minutes/game.
- She has scored in double figures five times this season including a career-high 23-point effort in the loss to Miami (OH) earlier this season.
- The lightning-quick guard has eight games with two or more three-pointers made including in each of her last four games. She has three games with a career-high four triples made.
- Green has been asked to play big minutes for Pitt as she has notched 20+ minutes in all 15 games and 30+ minutes eight times.
- Entering the 2019-20 campaign, the Panthers knew they were going to have to rely heavily on a handful of newcomers to make an impact and they have done a nice job so far this season.
- The six newcomers for the Pitt are averaging a combined 41.6 points and 26.9 rebounds per game so far this season.
- The newcomers are accounting for 67.3% of the Panthers scoring efforts this season and 65.6% of the rebounding efforts.
- The freshman duo of Dayshanette Harris and Amber Brown have combined to score 20.5 points per game, the second best freshman duo in the ACC behind Notre Dame's duo of Sam Brunelle and Anaya Peoples (25.5 ppg).
- The freshman duo of Brown and Rita Igbokwe are currently leads all ACC freshman duos in combined rebounds (15.0 rpg) while Notre Dame's duo of Ayana Peoples and Sam Brunelle (14.2 rpg) ranks second.
- Entering this season, Pitt had to replace 70.4% of their scoring from last season when they averaged 57.5 points/ game and the newcomers have stepped in nicely.
- Pitt will return home on Sunday afternoon as they welcome the Syracuse Orange to the Petersen Events Center for a 12:00 pm tip. Sunday's game will air on RSN, AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh in the Pittsburgh area as Evan Lepler (play-by-play) and Kelley Deyo (color) will be on the call.
- The Panthers will stay at home on Thursday, Jan. 23 as they welcome nationally-ranked NC State to the Pete for a 7:00 pm tip.
