- Pitt gymnastics alumna Mallory Brewer sadly passed away from a brain aneurysm in 2016. She was a 2011 graduate with a Bachelor of Science in psychology and had just received her MBA from the Katz School of Business. The Panthers will honor her memory at Saturday's season opener.
EAGL 25TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON
- The East Atlantic Gymnastics League is celebrating its 25th season as the premier Division I Women's Gymnastics Conference on the East Coast.
- New Hampshire, North Carolina, NC State, Pitt and Towson are each charter members of EAGL dating back to its inaugural season in 1996. George Washington joined the league in 2005.
A LOOK BACK AT 2019
- In 2019, the Panthers were represented at the NCAA Regional for the 15th consecutive year, and for the 24th time in the last 25 seasons (missing only the 2004 season), with Brittany West qualifying to compete on balance beam. She traveled to Athens, Ga., where she completed her career as one of the top 16 on beam in the nation.
- Pitt placed fourth at the 2019 EAGL Championship, hosted by the University of New Hampshire at Whittemore Center (March 23). Fourth place was the Panthers' highest finish at the meet since winning the competition in 2016.
- Six Pitt gymnasts earned All-EAGL honors for the 2019 season, including Haley Brechwald (first team vault), Lucy Brett (second team bars), Olivia Miller (first team all-around), Alecia Petrikis (first team vault), Charli Spivey (second team floor) and Brittany West (first team beam).
- Miller and Kiley Robatin each earned EAGL Rookie of the Week honors during the 2019 campaign.
- To kick off the 2019 campaign, Pitt posted its highest season-opening team score in program history, recording a 194.750 in a quad meet at Fitzgerald Field House. Additionally, the Panthers competed in front of the largest season-opening crowd in program history, with 1,250 fans in attendance.
RETURNING FOR THE PANTHERS
- Pitt returns nine Panthers who competed in 2019, including six that earned either All-EAGL or EAGL All-Tournament honors last season.
- On vault, junior Haley Brechwald and senior Alecia Petrikis are back. Both posted a team-high score of 9.850 on the apparatus in 2019, and each earned All-EAGL first team honors.
- Rachel Dugan will return for her senior campaign in 2020. She earned a team-best score of 9.850 on bars for the Panthers in 2019.
- After earning EAGL Rookie of the Week honors in 2019, Kiley Robatin is back for Pitt. She earned a 9.900 on balance beam in 2019 to pace the Panthers.
- Junior Jordan Ceccarini returns after earning 2019 EAGL All-Tournament honors on beam and floor. She had a team-best score of 9.875 on floor for Pitt last year.
- Pittsburgh native Olivia Miller will begin her sophomore season in 2020 after earning two EAGL Rookie of the Week honors in 2019, in addition to All-EAGL first team honors in the all-around.
NEW PANTHERS
- Pitt welcomes seven new faces to the 2020 roster, including senior transfers Michaela Burton (Arkansas) and Katrina Coca (Kentucky), as well as freshmen Lauren Beckwith, Reaia Floyd, Emily Liszewski, Ciara Ward and Christina Weiss.
- Burton spent her first three collegiate seasons at Arkansas, where she competed at three NCAA Regional Championships and one NCAA National Championship. She completed the 2019 season as the No. 44 gymnast in the nation on balance beam with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 9.875.
- Coca comes to Pittsburgh from Kentucky, where she spent the last four seasons. Unfortunately, the redshirt senior suffered an Achilles injury in the fall of 2019, which will prevent her from competing during the 2020 season.
- The five freshmen hail from five different states: Beckwith from Ohio, Floyd from Texas, Liszewski from California, Ward from Maryland and Weiss from North Carolina.
- Liszewski is an early enrollee, after signing her National Letter of Intent in 2019. The 17-year-old completed her high school degree in December and began her first collegiate semester at Pitt Monday.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
- New Hampshire (1-0, 0-0 EAGL) received a ranking of No. 18 by RoadToNationals.com following its first meet of the 2020 season.
- The Wildcats topped Illinois State in their season opener, 193.400-189.050, in a road dual in Normal, Ill., Saturday afternoon. Senior Emma Winer earned individual victories on balance beam and floor exercise and shared the top score on vault to propel UNH to victory.
- The 2019 EAGL Champions were picked to defend their title in the 2020 EAGL Preseason Poll, as announced in late December. UNH received 32 votes and three first-place votes to take the No. 1 spot in the league.

- The Panthers are 12-13 all-time when competing at home against New Hampshire.
- UNH has won the last four encounters between the two teams, including the most recent meeting at the 2019 EAGL Championship (195.950). Pitt placed fourth at the meet with a score of 194.900.
