NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team dropped its ACC road opener 4-0 to Notre Dame Thursday night at Alumni Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Notre Dame produced its first goal in the 10th minute when Jenna Winebrenner deflected a shot by Evan Hurm with her foot in the middle of the box.
- Athalie Palomo had Pitt's only shot in the 29th minute. Palomo collected a turnover by the Irish and sent a shot just wide past the right post.
- Kiki Van Zanten collected a loose ball off a free kick by Maddie Mercado and recorded the second goal in the first half in the 38th minute.
- Hurm scored the first goal of the second half nine minutes in off a pass from Luisa Delgado.
- Van Zanten recorded her last goal in the 61st minute.
- The Irish outshot the Panthers 20-1 and had a 9-1 corner kicks advantage.
- Amaia Pena started and made three saves. Katherine Robinson entered at the beginning of the second half and had four saves.
QUOTABLE
- Head coach Randy Waldrum: "I felt tonight we ran into a team that was simply better than us in all phases. It's a great lesson for our young players as we continue to build this foundation. Now the job is to recover and move on to the Miami game."
UP NEXT
- The Panthers stay on the road and take on Miami Sunday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on the ACC Network.
