Women’s Soccer Snaps ACC Winless Streak Against BC, 2-1 in Overtime

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer snapped a three-year winless streak in ACC play with a 2-1 win over Boston College in overtime Thursday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field. Amanda West headed in a cross from Cheyenne Hudson in the 94th minute for the golden goal.

How it happened
- Vildan Kardesler put a shot just above the crossbar in the 18th minute for the Panther's first shot of the game.
- West split two defenders and forced a diving save by the goalkeeper in the 40th minute, and then kissed a shot off the cross bar from near the right corner three minutes later.
- Vazquez headed in a cross from Hudson from the middle of the box.
- Boston College tied it up when Karras took the ball down the line and put a cross into the box that was deflected by a Panthers' defender and in.
- On a run down the left side, Kardesler cut into the box and put a shot slightly above the crossbar.
- Hudson once again sent in a cross into the box to be headed by West for the game-winner.
- Pitt went 3 years and one day in-between ACC wins, with the previous victory coming on Oct. 9, 2016 against Miami (1-0 in overtime). The Panthers were 0-25-3 in between the two wins in league action.
- The ACC victory was the first for second-year head coach Randy Waldrum.
- The last three ACC wins for the Panthers have come in overtime (1-0 over Syracuse on Oct. 11, 2015).
- West tied Charity McClure (1998) for the second-most points (23) in a single-season in program history.
- She also tied Cande Ruiz (1998) for the third-most game-winning goals (three) and Ashley Cuba (2011) for goals in a single-year.
- She had a game-high six saves, including two on goal.
- Boston College had the edge in shots (17-14) and corner kicks (6-2).
- Amaia Pena made two saves.
