Hola!
Sunday was our first day in Barcelona and it was amazing. We arrived at our hotel around 11 a.m. and ate breakfast at a small restaurant connected to the hotel. They were serving donuts, muffins, bread, ham, chorizo, tortilla, and so much more. I was overwhelmed by all of the different and unique options that we don't have in America. Usually in Spain they make a bread, oil, tomato, and ham sandwich for breakfast. Claudia and Clara were making fun of me because I was doing it the wrong way!
Not long after we ate we walked around Barcelona for about three hours. We visited the Cathedral of Barcelona and it was beautiful. Funny story actually...when we were flying over the city right before we landed I pointed out the Cathedral to Jo on the plane because of its distinct pointed rooftop- turns out it was just an ugly factory building with three huge pipes.
One thing I learned about drivers here is that they do not stop for pedestrians. Something our drivers do do on campus. If you don't move they will honk, but still going full speed. I almost got hit maybe three times. So run.
Later in the afternoon we took a tour of Camp Nou. We went through Barcelona's locker room, field, bench, and press box. It was crazy. Tomorrow night we'll be watching a game there and I could not be any more excited. Go Barca!
We ended the night eating dinner overlooking MNAC and Montjuic magic fountain! Our first day was definitely tiring, but it was worth every second. We're so excited for tomorrow and we can't wait to continue to explore!
Hail to Pitt!
