Four Pitt Wins Highlight Final Day of Harvard Invitational

Panthers Conclude Fall Campaign
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Pittsburgh tennis team earned four wins against host-team Harvard in the final day of action at the Harvard Invitational in the Murr Tennis Center.
Pitt recorded two singles wins and two doubles wins over the Crimson.
"Today we came out firing on all cylinders in doubles," head coach Alex Santos said. "Everything that we've worked on all fall came together and we are taking a lot of confidence out of that. In singles, we battled our tails off. Natsumi [Okamoto] and Gabriela [Rezende] were spectacular today and it was clear proof that hard work pays off. In the other courts, we came up on the short end of things but I know they are hurting inside and that will only fire them up to want it even more."
Junior Gabriela Rezende outlasted Lexi Milunovich in three sets as she claimed the first, 6-1, dropped the second, 3-6, then took the third 6-4 for the win.
Junior Natsumi Okamoto as recorded a win in singles today as she downed Lia Kiam in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, the Pitt tandem of junior Luisa Varon and freshman Claudia Bartolome posted a 6-4 win over Erica Oosterhaut and Lexi Milunovich. The junior doubles team of Rezende and Okamoto also earned a win as they dominated Isabel Jasper and Irene Lu, 6-1.
