VILLANOVA, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh’s women’s tennis team downed bounced back into the win column with a 4-2 victory over Villanova today at the Radnor Racquet Club.
The Panthers (6-3, 2-2 Big East) took their four points in singles play against the Wildcats (0-12, 0-4 Big East). Doubles play was cut short due to time constraints so the number one doubles victory for Pitt did not count in the final score.
Elizabeth Adams, Gabi Catanzariti and Karma Parbhu all picked up straight-set wins over Villanova while Adela Aprodu needed a third set, but pulled through with the decisive win for the Panthers.
“Adela Aprodu played a very competitive third set to clinch the victory for the Panthers,” said head coach George Dieffenbach. Dieffenbach is looking to use the momentum from today’s Big East win in the team’s match tomorrow against Rutgers.
Pitt will head to New Jersey next for its second Big East match of the weekend against the Scarlet Knights. Match time is set for 1 p.m. tomorrow, March 27 at the Busch Tennis Bubble.
